Sycamore Farm is on a mission to help sexually exploited and trafficked women find freedom through the love of Jesus.
Why we are here
Kentucky ranks 9th in the nation for new human trafficking cases.
TRAFFICKERS ARE PREDATORS
They vary their tactics when grooming victims—tailoring techniques based on the vulnerabilities of their victims.
They lie and manipulate to break down trust barriers by grooming them, offering gifts and friendship, and pretending to love them.
Eventually, they ISOLATE their victims, which creates more reliance on them and, thus, more CONTROL to EXPLOIT and abuse.
To keep their victims completely reliant on them, they continue to isolate, manipulate, physically abuse, and force drug use.
Over time, VICTIMS LOSE HOPE and become completely compliant with their traffickers.
Victims do not always realize they are being trafficked, and threats and lack of resources often prevent them from getting free.
The most common perpetrator (60%) of familial sex trafficking is the biological mother.
83% of trafficking victims in the United States are American-born citizens.
As abused children age, they believe this abuse to be expected and do not have guidance to healthy relationships.
They continue to have trouble throughout their lives with toxic relationships and physical and mental health problems and eventually end up in a box of labels we call addict, prostitute, homeless, and mentally unstable.
