Becoming a Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in serving with Sycamore Farm! Volunteers play an important role in helping us provide a safe, supportive, and Christ-centered environment for women on their journey to healing and restoration.

To ensure the safety of our residents and volunteers, everyone completes a volunteer onboarding process before serving. This process may include submitting an application, participating in an interview, completing reference and background checks when required, finishing online training modules, attending an in-person orientation, and, for some roles, shadowing an experienced volunteer or staff member.

Our onboarding process helps equip volunteers with an understanding of trauma-informed care, our mission, policies, and expectations so you can serve with confidence and compassion.

Below, you will find a list of our current volunteer opportunities along with descriptions of each role. We encourage you to explore the opportunities and find a role that best matches your interests, availability, gifts, and skills.

Freedom House

House Volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming, supportive, and encouraging environment for the women in our Freedom House. Volunteers spend time building meaningful relationships through everyday activities such as baking, cooking, crafts, games, painting projects, music, teaching new skills, or simply spending quality time together. Volunteers also provide support to staff as needed and, as they become more comfortable and experienced, may have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities.

For those interested in a greater level of involvement, Senior House Volunteers receive additional training in trauma-informed care and house procedures. These volunteers serve alongside staff during morning, evening, or overnight shifts, helping create a safe and caring atmosphere by engaging with residents, assisting with activities, and being available to offer support. Overnight volunteers are welcome to sleep during their shift while remaining available if a resident needs assistance. Comprehensive training and ongoing support are provided to prepare volunteers for this rewarding role.

Jail Outreach Ministry

Jail Outreach Ministry serve as the hands and feet of Christ by building meaningful relationships with incarcerated women. Volunteers lead Scripture-based discussions, pray with participants, and provide encouragement in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment. While the program is designed as a 10-week study, jail schedules and participant availability can vary, so volunteers focus on faithfully meeting each woman where she is in her journey. Whether serving weekly, twice a month, or monthly, volunteers work in teams to offer hope, listen with compassion, and share God's love with women who are often experiencing isolation and uncertainty. Training, orientation, study materials, and ongoing support are provided, equipping volunteers to serve with confidence while relying on the Holy Spirit to guide every conversation.

Craft Show Volunteer

Craft Show Volunteers play an important role in helping Sycamore Farm raise awareness about sex trafficking while providing financial support for our ministry. Volunteers assist at craft shows by selling jewelry, sharing information about Sycamore Farm and our mission, and helping educate the public about the realities of sex trafficking and exploitation.

We also have opportunities for Lead Craft Show Volunteers who take on additional responsibilities, including helping transport materials and inventory to and from events, setting up the display, and assisting with breaking down and packing up at the end of the craft show.

Every craft show is an opportunity to share our mission, increase community awareness, and generate financial support that helps us continue serving women on their journey toward freedom and restoration.

Admin Volunteers

Administrative Volunteers provide valuable behind-the-scenes support that helps Sycamore Farm continue carrying out its mission. Volunteers may assist with a variety of administrative tasks based on their skills and availability, including bookkeeping, scheduling, data entry, organization, and other office-related projects.

We also have opportunities for volunteers to serve as a Volunteer Coordinator, helping manage the volunteer onboarding process, communicate with prospective and current volunteers, coordinate training and orientation, and assist with volunteer scheduling. Administrative Volunteers play an essential role in supporting our staff, strengthening our operations, and helping ensure that both our ministry and volunteers are equipped to serve women on their journey toward freedom and restoration.

Jewelry Making Volunteer

Jewelry Making Volunteers help support Sycamore Farm's mission by creating handmade jewelry that is sold at craft shows and partnering locations. Volunteers can use their creativity and skills to help design and make earrings and other jewelry items that not only raise financial support for the ministry but also create opportunities to share our mission and bring awareness to sex trafficking and exploitation. Whether you are experienced in jewelry making or simply enjoy learning new creative skills, this is a meaningful way to use your time and talents to make a difference.
